The agriculture sector has a special role to play in the economic and social transformation of the country. There is a need of boosting up this sector as per the contemporary scenario in the world able to catalyze the overall process of sustainable development, to increase agricultural productions, eliminate shortage and poverty, uplift livelihood and the particular process of agricultural development as well as the promotion of agro-based industries and marketing.
In this regard, this 'Jibika College of Agricultural Sciences' is established in Itahari-17, Sunsari (the center of eastern region of Nepal) so that it could provide higher and quality education to the students and somewhat address the high demand of qualified agricultural technicians. It has the mission of producing competent human resources.
Affiliated under Agriculture and Forest University (AFU) and the first college of Nepal run by cooperatives, the college aims to provide quality technical education and promote academic as well as professional excellence of the students inspired to be an agricultural specialist. For this, it is currently running four years B. Sc. Agriculture Program and is planning to extend its faculties to B. Sc. Fisheries and B. V. Sc. in coming days.
All the expert team of agricultural scientists and professionals are involved in this institution. The college intends to make contributions in all fields of knowledge in agricultural and applied sciences to provide quality education and theoretical knowledge related to agriculture.
